We are now in the final count down for the 2005 National Tartan Day Parade on Saturday, April 2, 2005. Here's a quick update on things so everyone will know about hospitality after the parade.
Please check the weather forecast before you leave home because April weather is very unpredictable in New York City.
Kirkin
The Saint Andrew's Society is sponsoring a Kirkin at 10:00 a.m. before the parade. Ed Cattell, Jr., President of CCSNA, David W. Campbell, President of Clan Campbell Society of Australia, and myself will represent our Clan in the procession along with the British Consul General, Members of the Scottish Parliament and other dignitaries. There's a nice brunch afterwards for those who made reservations. Sorry it’s sold out, if you missed the deadline.
Transportation for formation of parade
Three tour buses will transport guests from the church on East 64th and Park Avenue to the line up for the parade on West 45th Street and Sixth Avenue. We must be there by 1:00 p.m. to get everyone in formation. If the weather is nice, you may want to walk from East 64th to West 45th, as a typical New Yorker. If not, there are buses on Fifth Avenue. Go two blocks east and catch any downtown bus going to 45th/Fifth Avenue ($2.00 exact change required), or take a taxi on Park Avenue (about $5.00).
Parade Formation
We need volunteers who can carry flags in the parade. We could also use a good drill sergeant to line up us civilians and get our formation in order. We will march five abreast led by the colors, Presidents of CCS (NA and Australia). We will finish the parade about 3:30 p.m. at West 58th Street.
Hospitality for Campbells and friends
You will be our guest at Eamon's Bar & Grill 9 East 45th Street. (between Fifth and Madison Avenue, upstairs. Ask for the Tartan Day Parade Party. We have provided 200 pints for you. After that, you are on your own but may purchase a pint at a reduced cost of $5.00. Food will be available also at a reduced cost. This is our way to say thanks for visiting and marching in the parade. You don't even have to be a Campbell to come and celebrate! All are welcome and there's plenty of room.

Before leaving the City, you will certainly want to go to Grand Central Terminal and see Sir William Wallace's sword at the Scottish Village Exhibition in Vanderbilt Hall. It will be open until 8:00 p.m. and is within walking distance (Grand Central Terminal is located at East 42nd Street between Vanderbilt and Lexington Avenue). This is the first time in 700 years the sword has ever left Scotland!

If time permits, visit John W. Campbell's former Apartment in Grand Central (now a cocktail lounge that serves great single malts). The entrance is on Vanderbilt.
Looking forward to greeting and personally welcoming each of you to the 2005 Tartan Day Parade.
