Best Wishes
This has been a life altering year for many of us New Yorkers. We will
never forget what we were doing on September 11. Life goes on. We will
rebuild while remembering those we have lost. To each and everyone who
visits the Campbells of New York website, we wish you a special
Christmas.
May the love that binds our family touch yours and keep you strong.
Merry Christmas and peace be with you.

Tunes of Glory 10,000 Pipers are still
marching April 6, 2002 in New York City.
Terrorists will not defeat 10,000 pipers marching in New York City on April 6, 2002, Tartan Day in the
United States. Joan Haig, Information Officer, Epic Concepts, Edinburgh, which is promoting this event
states: "The mood and sentiment of the parade will obviously change -- the mission will not. We are
currently discussing with our New York partners how some of the money raised could directly benefit the
people of New York."
The New York Caledonian Club extends an invitation to Campbells across the nation to come to New York and be a part of history. The sound of the pipes will be heard around the world. Help us send a message of hope. Come to New York and march or stand proudly and salute the music of our ancestors.
Join us and reaffirm the spirit of the Declaration of Arbroath.
We will publish updates to keep everyone informed about this important Scottish cultural event. Tell all your relatives and friends. They would not want to miss this.

Campbells in New York City are deeply saddened by the loss of so many
innocent people at the World Trade Center and at the Pentagon (September 11,
2001). The number of recoveries are now beginning to rise while hope of
rescue declines. New Yorkers and Americans across this nation are united in
the belief that we must fight terrorism.
The World Trade Center had about 50,000 people working there. They were from
many countries, not just the United States. This was a savage attack on
civilization. We are now engaged in a struggle unlike any that this
country has ever known.
"It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but
for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life
itself."
- Declaration of Arbroath, 6 April 1320
Our hearts go out to our friends and relatives who have been lost. New York,
nor the world, will ever be the same. We no longer have our "Windows on the
World" to view the lights of the City and reflect on our hopes and dreams.
United in grief and undivided in our sorrow, may the darkness of this present
time be turned into the dawn of a new beginning.
Ne Obliviscaris,
James R. Campbell

NEW YORK, NEW YORK
The New York Caledonian Club elected James R. Campbell (right), 73rd Chief on May 20,
2001. He succeeds George Alexander Campbell, Jr. (left)
This is the first time in
145 years there has been two Campbells elected Chief successively. Upon his
election, he thanked the membership and identified two major challenges:
expansion of working relationships with other Scottish organizations to
increase Scottish cultural awareness and to support plans underway for
observance of National Tartan Day, April 6, 2002.
The American Scottish
Foundation will sponsor Tunes of Glory 2002 with 10,000 pipers expected to
march down Fifth Avenue to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
