Campbells again turned out for the Annual Robert Burns Supper with the New York Caledonian Chief George A. Campbell, Park Avenue Armory, New York City on January 27, 2001.
Guest speakers included the President of the St. Andrew's Society of the State of New York and the British Consul-General. John Mauk Hilliard of Lehman College gave the Immortal Memory address. The Madras Confach(right) provided music.

Hugh Campbell

New York State Commissioner Hugh H. Campbell, Jr., (left) announced on November 15, 2000, that he will step down as the New York State Commissioner to become Deputy Region 2 (New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania) Commissioner.

Regional Commissioner Carl Squires has appointed Paul Harris, New York Commissioner. Paul is the publisher of the much read Courier covering The Clan Campbell Society events across the state for the past six years.

George Campbell Carl Surface George Campbell (left) will serve as Deputy Commissioner for New York City covering all five boroughs. Carl Surface (right) will continue as Deputy Commissioner for Long Island (Nassau and Suffolk).

We all wish the new commissioners good luck and success in reaching Campbells throughout New York.

about the renovation of John W. Campbell's apartment at Grand Central Terminal (Vanderbilt entrance). The apartment is now an upscale cocktail bar that has been beautifully restored.
A special search is underway to find old photographs of John ("Jack") W. Campbell and his wife Rosalind Danhauser Campbell entertaining New York City society in the 1920s and 1930s.

Clan Campbell Society (NA) Annual General Meeting in Texas

ARLINGTON, TEXAS -- The 2000 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of The Clan Campbell Society (North America) was held in conjunction with the 14th Annual Texas Scottish Festival, June 1 -- 4, 2000.
The proposed slate of four trustees was elected for three-year terms (2000--20003) James R. Campbell, New York City Deputy Commissioner, Kenneth B. Campbell, Louisiana Commissioner, Stephen M. Campbell, Oregon Commissioner, and the Rev. Thomas Campbell, South Dakota.


The Commissioner of the Year Award went to John ("Jack") Campbell, State Commissioner of PA.

Clansman of the Year Award was presented to Doug Caddell, State Commissioner of Kansas.

At the AGM the first volume of A History of the Clan Campbell, Volume 1 from Origins to Flodden by Alastair Lorne Campbell arrived just in time of the meeting. Joe McD, President, Clan Campbell Education Association formally presented it. The first volume is now available for members and can be ordered from the Store Manager, Elizabeth Campbell, Sturgis, SD.

David R. Campbell, President, Clan Campbell Society (NA) announced that Montreal has been selected for the 2001 AGM August 2-5, 2001. This will be the first meeting of the Society in Canada and will be very special. Early reservations are recommended because of other cultural events and demands for hotel reservations.
